Individual Therapy No one has the perfect childhood. Even if you come from a family that’s intact and loving, life presents crises and challenges when you least expect them. It may be the loss of a loved one, difficulty forming or maintaining relationships, frustrations around a job or reaching a life goal or a significant life transition. I help clients explore their thoughts and feelings and uncover the patterns and behaviors that have shaped their lives. I work both in the present and in the past to integrate different parts of ourselves into a more holistic whole. I believe we can change our perceptions and feelings about the past – no matter how disturbing – so that difficult events become just another thread in our overall life tapestry. Once we do that, we can find more joy in the present and face the future with a more flexibility and openness. I believe that people can grow and change at any age. Transitions – no matter how large or small – can be an opportunity for deeper work that leads to a fuller and more satisfying life.
My therapeutic style is calm, deeply caring, and respectful of each person's unique goals, struggles, and strengths. I practice insight-oriented depth therapy, which means I help you gain awareness of your internal and external obstacles in order to promote deep and lasting changes in your life. I also provide practical tools to help soothe yourself and express yourself fully and to communicate and get along with the people in your life. I draw from multiple schools of therapy including psychodynamic, existential, family systems, attachment theory and somatic mindfulness. Perinatal Mental Health - Mothering the Mother I provide mental, emotional and practical support to women throughout the perinatal period (conception to one year postpartum). I aim to create a safe and welcoming environment where women can intimately explore and navigate this challenging and transformative life chapter. The perinatal period offers unique opportunities for growth and transformation. I hold the space to help you adapt, learn and grow into becoming a mother.
I am a certified provider in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International and am experienced in supporting the emotional wellbeing of women through the perinatal spectrum including: family planning, managing high risk pregnancies, mood disturbances, intrusive thoughts, grief & loss, fetal anomalies, birth trauma, transitioning into parenting, self esteem, termination/abortion and changing relationships.
The world has modeled and normalized mothers sacrificing their emotional and mental wellbeing in order to meet the needs of their families. I believe in mothering the mother. I normalize prioritizing your health and well being in addition to caring for your family.
